On May 1, 2018, Kanye West appeared in a filmed TMZ interview where he discussed his support for Donald Trump, opinion on slavery, and freedom.[1][2] A line from the interview where he poses slavery as a "choice" garnered immediate backlash from the public.[3] Clips from the interview can be viewed here.
When you hear about slavery for 400 years. For 400 years? That sounds like a choice.
It was later revealed that the interview led to the cancellation of his planned album LOVE EVERYONE (2018). Kanye proceeded to re-record what would be his ninth studio album in the span of a month,[4] and released ye just one month after the interview. This was confirmed by his wife Kim Kardashian and featured artist 070 Shake.[5][6]
