"530" (previously known as "5:30", "5:30 AM", "530 AM", "The Car's Missing", and "Dear Summer") is a song that was released again on April 29th, 2025 as a track on the 2025 update to DONDA 2, releasing as the eleventh track to the record under the name "Ye".[1]
In the song, Ye reflects on his marital issues with Kim Kardashian, whom he divorced in 2022. He even disses Kim, telling her to listen to other rappers and calling her a gold digger.[2]
Production[]
The song heavily samples Swsh's 2019 song, "Break the Fall (Acoustic)".[3]
Background[]
The track was first shown in a track list leak dated February 4, when it was titled "THE CAR'S MISSING."[4] Fourteen days later, Ye shared some track lists on Instagram which featured the title "530" instead. The posts have since been removed.
Between February and October 2022, leaks have surfaced, with the best-known leak featuring Ye singing "530, the car missing / Is this what you call distance? / Is this what you call livin', uh? / Call God, call Satan, call (?) / Take me-"
The song made its official debut in the "LAST WEEK" video that Ye uploaded to his YouTube channel on October 10, 2022.[5] Although it was untitled, fans figured that what was played was another part of the song.[6] When that part of the video is heard by Shazam, it leads to a result titled "WAR," which is a word that Ye brought up in recent days when discussing his relations to the media, to fashion companies, and some other celebrities. It is also what the title card for the "LAST WEEK" video reads.[5]
This song as well as "We Did It Kid", "Pablo" and "True Love" had all been intended for release as a single for Donda 2 in another GOOD Fridays series, although only "True Love" had released.[7] According to insider Waterfalls, "530" was planned to drop as a single in June or July 2022, though those plans eventually fell through.[8]
It was later confirmed by KayCyy via a Twitter Q&A that the song had been worked on with intent for the Kanye West, James Blake and No I.D. album, WAR.[9] KayCyy stated the song had been fully finished before he had the opportunity to record a reference for it, although it is unclear if this is referring to the second half which had been cut off for the GOOD Fridays version of the song.[10] It is unclear if James Blake or No I.D. had contributed to this version of the song. Trusted sources have stated that this version was not intended for WAR however.[11]
In December 2022, a version of the full song would leak. This version was nearly identical to the version heard in LAST WEEK, however it does not include the punch-in vocals that were heard. That version was likely recorded around February.
On August 2, 2024, a Reddit user found a potential track list for VULTURES 2 on the Yeezy website, which included "5:30" as the thirteenth track.[12] The song was also teased at having been brought back by the reference artist E. Ness 2 weeks prior, making it likely it was brought back around then.[13]
The following day on August 3, the song was previewed in a listening party for VULTURES 2 and released alongside the album as the 12th track. No Ty Dolla $ign vocals were available on this version of the song and the song was still in the same shape it was during the 2022 GOOD Fridays sessions with slightly worst mixing. The song is also theorized to be completely ripped from a version of the song off of YouTube.[14] A clip of Ty Dolla $ign recording for something with a similar wavelength to the second half of "530" was posted early on August 2nd, although its unclear if that was for the song.[15]
Post-release VULTURES 2[]

The song was updated on August 5. High-pitched vocals of Ty Dolla $ign were added in the beat-switch and the quality of the audio is overall clearer.[16]
On September 28, during the VULTURES listening party in China, a new version of "530" was previewed which featured a fully completed second verse after the beat-switch.[17] This beat switch would officially release on November 10 where it was made clear that the song had featured an AI vocal cover instead of a legitimate rerecording of the vocals. A line criticizing Kamala Harris was also removed. On January 9th of 2025, the song was given an official music video providing one last update to the VULTURES version of the song.
DONDA 2 Update[]
In April 2025 Kanye began primarily working with Digital Nas to put out an updated DONDA 2 for some odd reason. Despite minor mixing changes from IRKO, the song was for the majority untouched from the earlier Donda 2 sessions and was released on April 29th as the eleventh track to the official release DONDA 2.
Music video[]
an animated music video for "530" has been said to be in the works in June 2022, according to Waterfalls. However, the video has since been scrapped.[8]
Lyrics[]
[Intro: Swsh]
Baby, yeah
Woah, baby, who pick up when you call?
Yeah, yeah, yeah
[Chorus: Kanye West]
5:30, the car missin'
No text backs or call misses, I feel like we all victims
Docks is gettin' long
Drunk textin', I should not do Patrón
[Verse 1: Kanye West]
I hop on the phone, turn the music up, got in my zone
Drunk textin', I should probably sue Patrón
Had to do wrong order to do you right
You gotta go through it order to give advice
It's the price of the litty nights, I know the liquor hittin'
Why when somebody break your heart, it help fix your vision?
If you fall in love with a demon or a diva
Pray your soulmate got a soul when you meet her
The crystal ball couldn't tell me if they'll leave again
Problems too extra large to share with a medium
We fight not for flesh and blood on this level
And devil's advocate is advocatin' for the devil
And love is all drainin' and, stop, it's all fadin'
We used to be secretive but now it's all blatant
It's all just lost, ain't it? Watchin' it all cave in
We the topic of conversation
[Chorus: Kanye West]
5:30, the car missin'
No textin', just call missin'
We fight and you won't listen
You right, we both trippin'
[Verse 2: Kanye West]
It's game time, matter fact, it's Ye time
The past year been a strange time
Visitations on FaceTime
And who gon' break who's heart first? Always just breaks mine
Looking for blessings that God'll hand me
I'm tryna just raise the family, somebody should raise the nanny
I'm tryna leave you alone
But that last text was courtesy of Patrón
[Chorus: Kanye West]
5:30, the car missin'
Emotions is all distant
No texts, just calls missin'
We fight and you won't listen
You right, we both trippin'
Trivia[]
- It has been speculated the song had been worked on to a further extent/finished during the WAR sessions with James Blake and No I.D., though Kanye had lost the file to it. As this version hadn't leaked, he had used a YouTube rip of the unfinished Donda 2 era version of the song.
