"BACK OUTSIDE" (formerly titled "APEROL SPRITZ") is a song by California singer Ty Dolla $ign that is expected to release on his mixtape executively produced by close collaborator damn james!, AIRPLANE MODE 2 (2025).[1] The song features vocals from frequent collaborator Ant Clemons as well as production from the aforementioned damn james! as well as Digital Nas.
Background[]
The song was thought to have dated back to the Italy sessions for Ty Dolla $ign's collaborative album with Ye, Bad Bitch Play Book, though it would be confirmed later that the song was initially materialized earlier in a freestyle session between Ty, James Royo, and Chris King in early 2023 for Airplane Mode 2.[2] The song was at this point entirely solo Ty.
When Ty began working with Ye on Bad Bitch Play Book in Summer 2023, the song was brought back and reworked with added production from Digital Nas and an added bridge by Ant Clemons.[3] Past that, it's unclear if the song was worked on again throughout the creation of VULTURES 1, given it had not appeared on any other known track listings for the album.
The song had been revived in the creation of VULTURES 2, although it's unlikely that Ye had ever recorded for the song during these sessions. French Montana would share a snippet of Ty seemingly recording for the song on March 3rd, leading many to believe that he had recorded a feature for it as well. It was later confirmed French Montana had recorded for VULTURES 2, just not that song.[4]
The song appeared on the first May 3rd track listing shared by Pop and Flab.[5] After the track listing was replaced with another with YE ABOUT MINE and DRUNK, it's unclear if the song had still been in consideration for the album at this time.

After a year, Ty Dolla $ign would bring the song back upon heavy request for its release in late-2025 with intent for it to be used on his next mixtape to be release, AIRPLANE MODE 2. The song's beat was completely reworked as Ty would state in stream that he "didn't like the old one", though the version given a music video that would leak on November 4 after Ty Dolla $ign accidentally shown the link to the site on stream would use the old beat instead.[6]
