"BULLY" (Also known as "SEROTONIN") is a song by Kanye West that was released as the fifth track to his demo studio album, BULLY V1 (2025). The song was met with a release alongside the rest of the album as a part of the BULLY visual film on March 18,[1] 2025 and features production from Kanye West.
Production[]
The song contains a prominent sample of "Mujhe Maar Daalo" by Ashle Bhostle.[2] It has a BPM of 86.
Background[]
The song's beat had been made in September of 2024 and had been posted to Ye's own Instagram page on the 25th of that same month.[3] The song at this point in time was said to be unnamed by JoyBoy, until another snippet was shared on October 20, 2024.[4] The song was then falsely said to to be titled "OH NO MY HOODIE, MY HOODIE", though it was later confirmed that JoyBoy had been lying and that the song was actually untitled at the time like he had originally stated, meaning the song was at no point in time titled "OH NO MY HOODIE, MY HOODIE", Tish Hyman would later show she had recorded a reference for the song through a post including a filename for the song, this being almost certainly the song in which Kanye had put AI over as the flow in the release is almost identical to Tish's.[5]
The song appeared on every known BULLY track listing throughout October-December that all centered around the visual film, though the song had been constantly alternating between the working titles of "BULLY" and "SEROTONIN".[6] As of now, the actual title still remains up in the air as the last copy of the album known to have been worked on was actually titled "SEROTONIN" though insider Hogan confirmed in February of the following year that the song was the title track of the album.
On January 14, 2025 a snippet of this song with vocals was leaked.[7] The leaked version with vocals was seemingly recorded during the Switzerland listening event and featured a completely new verse compared to previous versions about "new freak-offs", likely in reference to Diddy as this was just weeks before his infamous 2025 Twitter rant.[8] Allegedly according to a Yeezy employee the leaked snippet was posted by Kanye's team on purpose for album promotion.[9]
On February 3rd, 2025, Kanye would state during his interview with Justin LaBoy that he believed AI and autotune were interchangeable, basically confirming this song alongside the rest of BULLY are AI.[10]
BULLY (Film)[]
On March 18, 2025, Kanye would release the BULLY short film that had been made for the album out of nowhere including a track list consisting eleven unfinished demos, this song releasing as the fifth.[11] Kanye would later go on to confirm he released it due to his newfound disdain towards AI technology and that he was planning on reworking it and rerecording with real vocals for the entire record.[12] It's possible a new version of the song devoid of AI vocals and rerecorded with real Ye vocals exists, though it has not been confirmed as the only song off the track list that has been confirmed to have been planned to be rerecorded is "MELROSE".
Later, the entire film had been taken down which was likely a reaction to Pomme threatening legal action against Ye for sampling her song in the album track "HIGHS AND LOWS", as just shortly before all sites hosting the album had it removed it was confirmed Pomme had became aware of the song sampling hers had been released and stated she was seeking legal action to have it removed.[13]
