Kanye West Wiki

"BURN EVERYTHING" (originally titled "777" and "FINALE") is a song by Toronto artist Sean Leon and Chicago rapper Kanye West (name stylized as "Ye" and later as "DONDA"). The song serves as the eighth track to Sean's deluxe mixtape HERD IMMUNITY 1.0 (2022) and the twelfth track to the updated version of DONDA 2 (2025).[1] The song features additional vocals from singer SYRA and features production from Sean and Ye themselves alongside John Cunningham and Bijan Amir.

The song was released as the lead single to Sean Leon's mixtape and the fourth single to DONDA's album DONDA 2.[2] The song serves as a sequel to Sean Leon's track "LEGEND, Pt. 1" and was met with a release of November 18.

Production[]

The song features production from Sean Leon, Bijan Amir, Kanye West, and John Cunningham, and features a sample of Dave Chappelle's Stand-Up Monologue off of Saturday Night Live.[3] The song runs at a tempo of 136 BPM in the G# key with a major mode and a time signature of 4/4.

Background[]

The song dates back to October 2021 during the Donda sessions where Sean Leon met up with Kanye in a studio session to record for music for both of their projects, Donda and HERD IMMUNITY. Kanye would record an incredibly mumbly verse for the song during these sessions that would be cut down into solely a chorus that would be used for further versions of the song. This snippet was shared by Sean himself who would confirm these vocals had been cut down for release.[4]

Sean would confirm he met with Ye again after Donda for Donda 2 where they updated the song. Sean would continue teasing the song up until its release, teasing a new arrangement.[5]

The song was initially supposed to be released onto the initial HERD IMMUNITY mixtape, though Sean would later clarify he was holding onto the song for a deluxe and the song was going to serve as a part 2 to another track off the record, "LEGEND, Pt. 1" and that a Vol. 2 to the tape would be releasing shortly after.[6] The song would release as the lead single to the deluxe tape on November 18. 2022 amidst Kanye controversy, which Sean has stated caused issues between him and his label.[7]

The song would for unknown reasons be brought back in 2025 for the rerelease of DONDA 2 and was teased by Digital Nas and had now featured different drums produced by 88-Keys.[8] However, on initial YouTube Music release these drums were unused and the song was identical to the Sean Leon version. An hour later when the songs were uploaded onto streaming, the new drums had been added.[9]

Music video[]

On November 18, 2022 (the same day as the song's release), a music video for the song, directed by Sean Leon, was uploaded to YouTube. The video is animated in 3D and features a dystopian-like society, where everything is lit on fire. Kanye's old childhood home and a YZY GAP building were also featured in the video.

Lyrics[]

[Verse 1: Kanye West]
Oh, burn everything, light gasoline
Oh, burn everything, light gasoline
Oh, like gasoline
Wife got Céline
That's not my thing
We got those tings
Oh, I just can't change
Burn everything, oh, burn everything

[Chorus: Sean Leon & SYRA]
Storm look like lightning when I shine (Legend, legend)
They gon' know my name before I die (Legend, legend, legendary)

[Verse 2: Sean Leon]
Glory in my eyes, bitch, this the story of my life
And you'll be sorry that you tried me
You'll be sorry that you lied, yeah, you'll be sorry
I pour out 40 for the guys, this for my brodies in the skies
And not these phonies in disguise, they tell their stories
Yeah, they tell their stories, tellin' lies
'Cause the fact is I'm right, so the facts, they don't like
Uh, they tellin' stories, tellin' lies
Tryna censor my light but I'm blessed, I'm alright

[Chorus: Sean Leon]
Storm look like lightning when I shine (Legend, legend)
They gon' know my name before I die (Legend, legend, legendary)
Storm look like lightning when I shine (Legend, legend)
They gon' know my name before I die (Legend, legend, legendary)
Legend

[Verse 3: Sean Leon]
Yeah, ayy, I'm a legend, when I step in
Ego trippin', ego deafen
This is destined
This is god flow, this is heaven
This that seven, seven, seven
This that flow from my transgressions
Second guessin' every second
Each and every session feel like sex and armageddon
This my new obsession 'cause this bitch in my possession
What's in my direction, just these mills from my expression
Baby, I'm your best friend, not your boyfriend, that's a dead end
Didn't you learn your lesson from your last man? Shit depressin'
Didn't I tell you last time? I'm a motherfuckin'—

[Outro: Sean Leon & '"Kanye West]
Legend (They gon' know my name before I die)
Burn everything (Storm look like lightning when I shine)
Legend, like gasoline (They gon' know my name before I die)
Burn everything
Oh, burn everything (Storm look like lightning when I shine)
I just can't change (Storm look like lightning when I shine)
Burn everything
(They gon' know my name before I die)
(They gon' know my name before I die)
Burn everything
