Benjamin Joseph Levin (born March 8, 1988), known professionally as Benny Blanco (stylized in all lowercase), is an American record producer. Blanco was initially mentored by songwriter and producer Dr. Luke, who signed him to his production company. Under Luke's tutelage, Blanco has gone on to write many hits by mainstream artists, including Ed Sheeran, Justin Bieber, Halsey, Katy Perry, Maroon 5, Kesha, Britney Spears, Rihanna, Sia, The Weeknd, Avicii, Selena Gomez, Adam Lambert, Charlie Puth, Keith Urban, Tory Lanez, Wiz Khalifa, Kanye West, J Balvin, and Juice WRLD.[1]
Blanco's work with Kanye West dates back to some songs off Francis and the Lights' debut studio album Farewell, Starlite! (2016), which features two songs that happen to have both Ye on it and songwriting/production done by Blanco himself. Two years later, Blanco was credited as a songwriter and/or producer on two songs from the ye (2018) project, and on another two songs from the Kids See Ghosts (2018) album with Kid Cudi. The two haven't really worked together since, apart from another Francis single titled "Take Me to the Light" that was released in 2019 and re-released with Chance the Rapper on it in 2020.[1][2]
Kanye has also mentioned Blanco on the unreleased song "After You" where he mumbles his name in an unfinished verse.[3]
