"Clique" is a song by Kanye West, Jay-Z, and Big Sean that was released as a single on September 6, 2012. It was later released as the second track from GOOD Music's compilation album, Cruel Summer. The song features additional vocals from Cocaine 80s, Aude Cardona, and Travis Jones, none of whom are credited.

The rappers use the lyrics to brag about their clique's strength.

Production

The song samples audio from James Brown's 1974 song, "Funky President (People It's Bad)".

Background

Big Sean recorded the hook for the song in London, and Ye liked it, so he recorded a verse for the song. Producer Hit-Boy revealed in a Genius annotation that Pusha T originally had a verse on the song that was later scrapped. Big Sean also revealed that many more "grade-A rappers" recorded verses for the song, but only his, Ye's, and Jay-Z's verse made the final cut. On September 5, 2012, TMZ leaked a 30-second snippet of the song. That same day, Ye also revealed the cover art for the song.

Chart performances

A week after debuting on the Billboard Hot 200, the song peaked at #12 on September 29, 2012. It also reached #2 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart.
