Earl Simmons (December 18, 1970-April 9, 2021), better known as DMX, was an American rapper and actor. DMX is considered to be one of the most influential rappers of the 1990s and 2000s, and is well-known for his aggressive and, sometimes controversial, lyrics in his songs.

History (w/ Kanye West)[]

In 2003, Kanye West produced DMX's song, "Dogs Out".[1]

In March 2016, Swizz Beatz teased a remix for "Real Friends" with a guest verse from DMX and potential Ye features on DMX's then-upcoming album, but neither ever released.[2][3]

On March 17, 2019, DMX attended a Sunday Service event and delivered a prayer.[4]

During DMX's funeral in 2021, Ye performed with the Sunday Service Choir and played a remix of DMX's song, "Ruff Ryders' Anthem".[5] Ye was also involved in two songs from DMX's posthumous album, Exodus. He co-produced the outro song, "Prayer".[6] The song "Skyscrapers" was originally owned by Swizz Beatz and had a guest verse from Ye, which was removed.[7] The outro of the Donda song, "Life Of The Party", samples audio from a video with DMX and his daughter riding a roller coaster, in which DMX tells her not to be afraid.[8]
