Donald John Trump (born June 14, 1946) is an American politician, businessman, and media personality who served at the 45th president of the United States of America from 2017 to 2021.[1] Trump is one of the most polarizing figures of the 21st century, as his career has been shrouded in controversy from accusations of rape and overall perversion to inciting a riot at the Capitol on January 6, 2021, which ended in several deaths. Still, he is one of the most successful businessmen in American history.

During his performance of the Saint Pablo Tour at San Jose, California on November 17, 2016, Ye stated that "If I would've voted, I would've voted for Trump", prompting several fans to boo him and throw garbage at him in response.[2] Two days later, during his performance at Sacramento, California, Ye went into another long rant, declaring that he was "on [his] Trump shit tonight".[3] On December 13, Ye revealed that he and Trump had a meeting at the Trump Tower to discuss "multicultural issues", such as bullying, supporting teachers, modernizing curriculums, and violence in Chicago.[4] Trump went on to call Ye a "good man".[5]

However, in February 2017, Ye deleted all of his pro-Trump tweets in response to the "Muslim ban", leading people to believe that Ye stopped supporting Trump.[6] In a 2018 interview with Charlamagne tha God, Ye stated that he just liked how Trump's presidential campaign, and instead supported Bernie Sanders' policies.[7] In April, Ye expressed his love for Trump in several tweets.[8] During his performance on Saturday Night Live on September 29, Ye wore a MAGA hat. On October 11, Ye met with Donald Trump at the White House, where he and several others saw Trump sign the Music Modernization Act.[9] Ye stated that wearing the MAGA hat made him "feel like Superman".[10]

In January 2020, Ye stated that he would be voting for Trump in the election and wouldn't listen to anyone who told him not to.[11] However, on July 4, Ye unexpectedly announced his plans to run in the election and later said that he stopped supporting Trump because of "Trump hiding in a bunker during the George Floyd protests".[12]

On November 22, 2022, Trump invited Ye to his home in Mar-a-Lago to eat dinner. To Trump's surprise, Ye arrived with three other guests, including Holocaust denier Nick Fuentes.[13] During the dinner, Ye criticized Trump for "not doing enough to help pay the legal bills of those arrested in the Jan. 6 Capitol riots" and also told Trump that he wanted to run for president against Trump. In response, Trump attacked Ye's ex-wife Kim Kardashian.[13]

In an interview in 2024, Ye revealed that he was supporting Trump again.[14]
