"Donda" (originally titled "South Carolina"[1]) is the fifteenth track from Kanye West's tenth studio album, Donda (2021), and the eighteenth track from the deluxe version of Donda.[2][3] The song features spoken words from Kanye's late mother, Donda West, as well as vocals from The World Famous Tony Williams and backing vocals from Stalone, Daniel Davila, the Sunday Service Choir, and the MUSYCA Children's Choir.[4]
Donda West's vocals are excerpts from her address at Chicago State University recorded on October 19, 2007, celebrating the life of renowned poet and writer Gwendolyn Brooks, who would have turned 90 that year.[5][6]
Some fans had misidentified Stalone as Ariana Grande after release, prompting the latter to post some clarification on her Instagram story.[7]
Background[]

A track list for God's Country, featuring "DONDA" as the ninth track.
Some of the earliest versions of the song was made during the God's Country era.[8] Work on the song continued throughout the DONDA: WITH CHILD era under the name, "South Carolina".
When the song was previewed at the first two listening parties, it featured an exchange between Kanye and Pusha T. This was removed in the last listening party at Chicago and the track was eventually renamed to "Donda".[9]
Lyrics[]
[Intro]
Forever, yeah
Can you hear me? Yeah
Forever, yeah
Forever, forever, no
Oh yeah, glory, glory, glory
Glory, glory, glory, glory
[Spoken Word]
It feels good to be home
And to all of you, I thank you so much for your support
For your support of me for so many years
And more importantly, for the work you continue to do
What do you want me to talk about?
Well, he said something that was a little bit dangerous
He told me I could talk about anything I wanted to
And you know, I am my son's mother
The man I describe in the introduction as being so decidedly different
My son (When you're runnin' outta time and you're not outta time)
And what made the project extra special to me is
I got a chance to share not only what he has meant to me
But what he has meant to a generation (Change the time)
As one writer said, we came from somewhere
Not just from the wombs of our mothers and the seeds of our fathers
But from a long line of generations who came before us
[Chorus]
It's the kingdom (It's the kingdom)
And the power (And the power)
And the glory (And the glory)
Forever (Forever)
It's the kingdom (It's the kingdom)
And the power (And the power)
And the glory (And the glory)
Forever (Forever)
[Outro]
Forever, yeah
Forever, yeah
Forever, forever, no
Oh yeah, glory, glory, glory
What did I teach him? (Glory)
And why Kanye ain't scared?
