"EVERYBODY" is a song by ¥$ (Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign) that was made for their studio album, VULTURES 1.[1] The song features vocals from Charlie Wilson and Lil Baby.

Production[]

The song heavily interpolates the Backstreet Boys' 1997 hit single, "Everybody (Backstreet's Back)". The horns are sampled from Frankie Cutlass' song, "Puerto Rico".[2] The outro samples Shabba Ranks' song, "Shine Eye Gal".[3]

Background[]

The song has been confirmed by trusted leaker Luit to have originated back to the YEBU in early-2023. At this point in time, the song had been a sample chop of the Backstreet Boys' song.[4] Although highly likely Charlie Wilson was not on this version of the song, its unclear if Lil Baby had recorded by this point or not or if the song had been recorded for at all. The song was confirmed by Luit to have been played at a private listening party for the album in June of 2023.

The song was confirmed to have been worked on in mid-2023 for Bad Bitch Play Book as the song made an appearance on the infamous 40-track rendition of the album with a position as the 14th track.[5] It's likely this is the time period in which Charlie Wilson recorded the hook for the song as he also recorded his vocals for "RIVER" during this time period.

On December 8, 2023, Ty Dolla $ign posted a picture of the track list for his and Kanye's upcoming album, VULTURES 1, which revealed that "Everybody" would be the opening track.[1] Later that same day, Kanye teased the album with a video of a snippet of a song.[6] On December 10, Kanye played several songs at a restaurant in Wynwood, Florida, including an early version of "Everybody" with little vocals and most notably, with Timbaland drums which would not appear on any other version of the song. Two days later, the song was played at the Miami listening party with different production, added verses from Kanye, Ty, and Lil Baby, and a revised intro sung by Charlie Wilson instead of Ty. Later that day, it was revealed that the song would be released as a single the next day.[7] However, this did not happen. Several news sources also report that Ye didn't clear the sample for the song.[8] There were more insider rumors that the song would release as a single for New Years, however, this also didn't happen.[9]

On January 9, 2024, a new version of the song was played at a club. This version was recorded by Justin Credible.[10] On January 31, an updated track list for VULTURES 1 was revealed. While "Everybody" was still the opening track, Lil Baby was removed as a feature.[11] Despite this, Baby's verse was re-added in final versions of the song. When the song was previewed at the third listening party in Chicago, Ty and Kanye's verses were swapped, with Ty's verse coming first. The outro was also shortened.[12] While it was expected to be on VULTURES 1, it did not appear at all on the released version of the album. In addition, the song would continue to be played at listening events, following "TALKING".

Although it was once considered for VULTURES 2 as confirmed by Fya Man and Ty himself, the song was ultimately scrapped in its entirety due to its failure to clear the sample.[13] It should also be noted that Kanye may still have viewed it as a VULTURES 1 track, as he had continued to perform it alongside the rest of the first record.

Lyrics[]

[Intro: Ty Dolla $ign]
Oh, my God, we're back again
(Back again)
Brother, sisters, everybody sing
('Body sing, 'body sing, 'body sing, 'body sing, 'body sing, 'body sing)
Gonna bring the flavor, show you how
(Show you how, show you how, show you how, show you how, show you how, show you how)
Got a question for you, better answer now
(Answer now, answer now, answer now, answer now, answer now, answer-)

[Bridge: Charlie Wilson & The Backstreet Boys]
Am I original? (Yeah)

[Verse 1: Ty Dolla $ign]
Where the bad lil' mamis?

Everybody (Yeah), rock your body right (Yeah)
Yeezy's back, alright

[Verse 2: Kanye West]
When I talk to the shrink, you better not blink
Ninety-nine problems, it start with the kink
One in the pink, one in the stink
When you shave it down, is it still mink?
Come sue me, #MeToo me
Survivin' Ye, come shoot me
You wanna color me bad like a Coogi
You wanna pack me up like a Tumi
Everybody waitin' for me to say the wrong thing
Okay, you the king, Burger King
I'm finna make a scene, murder scene
'Cause, homie, we done seen everything

[Pre-Chorus: Charlie Wilson & Ty Dolla $ign]
We got everything you need for you to rock your body now

[Chorus: Charlie Wilson & The Backstreet Boys]

[Verse 3: Lil Baby]

And don't be in your feelings, I can't post you
Double R piece, big shoe

To think real life like a cartoon
Stand tall like a barstool
Every time in Chiraq, I make shit move

[Outro]

Rock your body, rock your
Rock your body, rock your
(I make shit move)

Don't go servin' under
Then say big
Don't go servin' under
Then say big
It's hard to find
Anything for your mind
