"Everything I Am" (originally titled "Evrything I Am")[1] is the tenth song on Kanye West's third studio album Graduation (2007).[2] The song features vocals from DJ Premier.[3]
Production[]
The song features melodic production and has a BPM of 80.[4] The piano is sampled from "If We Can't Be Lovers” by Prince Philip.[5]
Background[]
The song is notable for its introspective lyrics, where Kanye reflects on his imperfections and the criticisms he faces. Unlike many of the songs on Graduation, this song mentions his ego in a self-deprecating way. As Kanye West states in this song "Common passed on this beat, I made it to a jam" which is referring to Kanye offering this beat to the rapper Common this story is similar to "The Glory" where Kanye tried giving the beat to Common, who denied.[3]
