Everything We Need Everything We Need (Remix) XXX (The Storm)

"The Storm" (also known by the names XXX, Jeet, and it's release ready name Everything We Need) is an unreleased song dating back to the Yandhi sessions. The song features guest vocals from Ty Dolla $ign, Ant Clemons, Kid Cudi, XXXTENTACION and tizhimself.

The Storm was initially made for Yandhi, but was later reworked in the Jesus Is King sessions to fit a more gospel sound, resulting in the now-released "Everything We Need."

Background[]

The song had originally been owned by the artist "B. Lewis" before it was given to Kanye around September of 2018.[1] Around this time, XXXTENTACION had also recorded his "Yes Indeed Freestyle", where his verse from it would later be used in later versions of the song.[2] Kanye recorded his initial freestyle of the song alongside Ant Clemons around this time and at this point in time the song was officially named "Jeet".[3] Ant Clemons would later record a reference for Kanye for the song alongside Really Doe on September 18.

After Yandhi missed it's planned release date of September 29, the song continued to be worked on. There were not many noticeable changes between versions during these sessions other than an added Andrew Dawson outro on one version. The next release date for the song alongside Yandhi was set to Black Friday, but was once again pushed back due to Camp Flog Gnaw.

When Yandhi was reworked considerably to take a more "healing music" twist with Timbaland in 2019, the song was tweaked considerably with new production from Timbaland and Team Timbo. At this point, Kid Cudi's feature had also been cut from the song.[4]

The last version of the song featured guest vocals from the Sunday Service Choir and less production and went by the name "Everything We Need" which it would carry into it's Jesus Is King sessions. Past this point, the song was completely reworked and the XXXTENTACION feature had been cut.[5]

Rework[]

After Kanye "found Jesus", He scrapped the concept of Yandhi and moved onto Jesus Is King. The song was reworked considerably and turned into what is known now as "Everything We Need" and serves as Jesus Is King's 6th track.[6]

Lyrics[]

[Intro: Ty Dolla $ign & Ant Clemons]
We began after the storm inside
Lay the land (Yeah-ah), it's just the morning light (Woo, woo)
Oh my god, Ronny! (Woo, woo), oh yeah

[Verse 1: Kanye West & Ant Clemons]
Woo-ooh, ooh-ooh
Switch your—switch your attitude
Go 'head, level up yourself
This that different latitude
Ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh
Life too short, don't troll yourself
Feel that feel, enjoy yourself

[Bridge: Ant Clemons]
Girl, you owe it to yourself (Ooh-ooh, ooh)
We began after the storm inside
Girl, you owe it to yourself (Ooh-ooh, ooh)
Girl, you owe it to yourself (Ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh)
We began after the storm inside
Girl, you owe it to yourself (Ooh-ooh, ooh)
Girl, you owe it to yourself

[Verse 2: Kid Cudi]
Hmm, Can't go once we get by, hmm
We on, we on
Hmm, See I’m gone, I’m too high, hmm
We on, we on
Fall back in time (Time)
When I was weak (Weak)
In for the ride (Who knows) where I would be (Yeah)
Watching the sun go down (Made it)
The silent retreat, hmm
I know he hear me when I’m lonely (Lonely)
Lift me off my feet

[Chorus: Ty Dolla $ign]
We began after the storm inside
Lay the land (Yeah-ah), it's just the morning light (Oh, yeah)

[Verse 3: XXXTENTACION]
Okay, I'm turnt
At the party, fuck 'round, pussy boy, and you get burnt
Actin' up, you actin' buff, you fuck 'round, you get murked
These n***** bitches, mm, I get it
Sauce, bitch, I'm with it, uh, I get it
Shots at your fitted (Ayy), mm, I did it
Yuh, I did it, yuh, I did it
N***** askin' where I get my drip at
Told a n**** throw a backpack, n****, back-back, hmm
Asking for the money, where your racks at?
If you ain't my brother, told a fuck n**** "Hush that", uh
Cartier, Cartier, throwing shade, uh
Asian bitch really like to crochet, uh
And my wrist never like throwing shade, uh
Came to the crib off of Kool-Aid, ayy

[Chorus: Ty Dolla $ign]
We began after the storm inside
Lay the land (Yeah-ah), it's just the morning light (Oh, yeah)
We began after the storm inside
Lay the land (Yeah-ah), it's just the morning light

[Outro: Ty Dolla $ign]
We began after the storm inside
Lay the land, it's just the morning light
We began after the storm inside
Lay the land, it's just the morning light
