Freestyle 4

Template:Song "Freestyle 4" is the eighth track from Kanye West's seventh studio album, The Life of Pablo (2016). The track features vocals from Desiigner.

In the song, an intoxicated Kanye raps about wanting to have sex with a woman whom he met at a party.

Production

The song samples the 2001 song "Human" by Goldfrapp and is heavily composed around the sample.

Background

Like many TLOP songs, "Freestyle 4" was originally made during the SWISH era. At one point, A$AP Ferg and Big Sean were meant to have verses in the song, but they were both removed. In February 2016, the infamous notepad for Waves was updated, featuring "Freestyle 4" as the thirteenth and final track. On February 11, 2016, Kanye tweeted an updated track list for the newly-renamed The Life of Pablo, featuring "Freestyle 4" as the third track on the album. A day later, Kanye again tweeted a newer version of the TLOP track list, showing "Freestyle 4" as the eighth track.

When Kanye made all of his updates to TLOP on March 31, 2016, the track featured a different instrumental around the 45-second mark and more synths were added.

Remixes

Tyler, The Creator praised "Freestyle 4", saying in a video that he "fucking love[s] this song". Tyler would release a remixed version of the track titled "WHAT THE FUCK RIGHT NOW" featuring A$AP Rocky on March 3, 2016. Kanye also praised Tyler's remix of the track.

On March 23, 2016, FaZe Adapt released a remix of the song titled "WHAT THE FART RIGHT NOW".

On May 25, 2016, LSDXOXO remixed the track to make it more suitable for clubs.
