"GOD'S COUNTRY" is the fifth track from Travis Scott's fourth studio album, UTOPIA (2023). The track features writing credits from Kanye West, who initially intended to release the song on his now-unreleased albums, God's Country and DONDA: WITH CHILD.

Production

The song heavily samples Dez Wright's 2019 song, "Must Be Leaving".

Background

The earliest versions of the song date back to around July 2020, towards the end of the God's Country era. Pierre-Louis Auvray revealed a track list for God's Country, titled OUR BEAUTIFUL AMAZING REALITY. This track list showed "GOD'S COUNTRY" as the eleventh track on the album.

On July 18, Kanye tweeted a picture of the track list for his then-upcoming album, DONDA, listing "GOD'S COUNTRY" as the tenth track on the album. However, after DONDA was delayed, the song was only worked on a handful more times before it was given to Travis Scott for UTOPIA. At one point, Ye recorded a full verse for this song, though it was later repurposed for "Go2DaMoon".

Music video

On the same day as the album's release, a music video for the song was released by Travis. In the video, several black kids are shown playing along with Travis rapping the song.
