"HUSBAND" is a song by ¥$ (Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign) that was released as the seventh track from their second studio album, VULTURES 2, on August 3, 2024.[1] It was later moved to the thirteenth track from the album. The song features solo Ye vocals that span out for two minutes over a minimalistic beat.

Background[]

The song is built off of vocals that were initially intended to be Kanye's verse for the song "LIFESTYLE" featuring Lil Wayne.[2] While this verse dates back to April 29 prior to the album's new sound direction, it is likely the song was split off and turned into its own song past May 6th as the beat to the song is similar sounding to other songs created during the rework like "NIGHTS ON THE MOON".[3]

The song was likely initially intended to serve as an outro/follow-up track to "LIFESTYLE" on a post-rework VULTURES 2 track list as the song was still present at the end of the song upon the album's initial release.[4]

The song officially released as a part of VULTURES 2 on August 3rd, 2024. Throughout the year, the song was updated several times, although mainly to fix mixing issues.[5] The song was removed from the outro to "LIFESTYLE" on August 8th which is also the same day the song was turned clean which was not undone until August 15.[6]

Lyrics[]

[Verse]
Neighbors know this shit get out of hand, but they smile
'Cause you been so long without a man
And it won't be, and it won't be long 'til you're out of bands
The only thing you really need is a husband
The only thing you really need is a husband
The only thought you ever need is "I trust him"
All your dreams, all your goals
It's promised with this ring I have in my hands
The main thing a n***a got is these plans
Got a plan for us, got a plan to grow
Got a plan for homes, got a plan for bad times
Got a plan for good times, got a plan for hood times
Got a plan for hood crimes, got a plan for trust
Got a plan for lust, got a plan for Beverly Hills
You know that's where they at (Uh, uh)
You know that's where they at, Beverly Hills
You know that's where they at
I don't really wanna go back to that
If I do, I know I'm goin' back to back
Breakin' backs and bags
Imagine that, that's the half of this, so I handle that
All you really need is a husband, show you love him
Let him touch you, let him rub you, let him hug you
Let him thug you, let him hold you down
All you need is a husband who gon' touch you
Who gon' rub you, who gon' hug you
Who gon' kiss you, who gon' miss you with no issue
With no issue, ain't no issue (Ain't no issue)
