"Hear Me Clearly" is a single by former GOOD artist Pusha T and fashion designer Nigo that serves as a track to both of their respective albums, It's Almost Dry (2022) and I Know NIGO! (2022).[1] The song features production done by Pusha's labelmate Kanye West as well as BoogzDaBeast, ThaMyind and Luca Starz.[2] The song serves as the second single to Push's album and the third to Nigo's.
Production[]
The song runs at a tempo of 84 BPM in the E key with a minor mode.[3]
Background[]
The song was initially in the possession of Kanye West and was one of the several freestyles he had recorded over a BoogzDaBeast beat for God's Country on November 4, 2019, initially titled "Shotta".[4] This mumble freestyle was never finished and the song had been shelved until almost 2 years later in April of 2021 when Kanye had brought it back during the Pio Pico sessions and had Pusha T record a reference for the song, though this verse was never finished and the song was handed off to Push.[5]
After being handed off to Pusha, the song was finished and found placement on Push's album It's Almost Dry. The following year, the song was first previewed at Kenzo's fashion show for their Autumn/Winter 2022 collection in Paris on January 23, 2022.[6]
Push stated that he played the song for Pharrell who responded by stating "It’s cool, but I don’t want you to be a mixtape rapper for the rest of your life." Despite being devastated, Push was flown out to Miami by Pharrell to work on his album.[7] It's unclear if this song was reworked by Pharrell or when this initially happened, though it's likely to have occurred some time around February 2022 as Push had been present at the Miami, FL Donda 2 listening party that taken place during this time period.
In a private listening party for It's Almost Dry, it is stated that the rapper Nas was intended to feature on the end song, though he had never recorded.[8] On March 2, Pusha T revealed the single’s cover art and Steven Victor, the executive producer of the album, teased its music video.[9] The song would officially release two days later and the music video would release at the end of the same month om March 30th.[10]
The song would officially release as the tenth track on the album on April 22nd.[11] The song would later be rereleased as the eleventh and fifth tracks on the rereleased Pharrell vs. Ye and Ye vs, Pharrell copies of the album.[12]
Lyrics[]
[Chorus: Pusha T]
Hear me clearly, if y'all n***as fear me, just say y'all fear me
[Verse 1: Pusha T]
These drug dealer Rollies is my TikTok and Triller
Insecure bitches get lip fillers
Covered in white like bridezilla and never been caught
So what's the Shiggy dance for a brick n***a?
Extracurricular, art buyer, 812 'Rari driver
Spent six just to make the roof, Harry Potter
Kilogram Kickstarter, push a brick harder
Left my elbow in the pot, à la Vince Carter
Compared to two martyrs but I'm chasin' moguls
Bosses meet for Hamachi in the back of Nobu
No phones allowed, no phones allowed
Cell towers gon' ping from the nearest cloud
My JanSporters, my transporters and Jan's daughter
Who put up extra bedsheets to block the camcorders?
You place orders, I hedge bets
Promises are when you follow through with your threats, n***a
[Chorus: Pusha T]
Hear me clearly, if y'all n***as fear me
Just say y'all fear me, fuck all these fairy tales
Hear me clearly, if y'all n***as fear me
Just say y'all fear me, fuck all these fairy tales
[Verse 2: Pusha T]
Buy your bitch a Richard Mille, if she like Meeks
Let no n***a claim rich, and let 'em buy you sneaks
Wish upon a star that's beyond yo' reach
Or you can lay with him in misery, and grind yo' teeth
Let a brick-n***a help you find your peace
G-Wagon, your seats, Gs cover your pleats
Ten toes down, Loewe cover the cleats
Dope sell itself, got a trunk full of receipts
Is you looking for me, or are we looking for Meech?
Stand on my standards, expanded with the Ziploc
Even if a n***a number better, never clique hop
Never tell a jeweller what you spent for your wristwatch
And we don't fuck bitches who fuck n***as on TikTok
See the difference 'tween me and them
I move to a different drum like EDM
This coke speaks to my soul like a medium, fucking comedians
[Chorus: Pusha T]
Hear me clearly, if y'all n***as fear me
Just say y'all fear me, fuck all these fairy tales
Hear me clearly, if y'all n***as fear me
Just say y'all fear me, fuck all these fairy tales
