"I Am Not Home", also known as "I Am Not Here", is an unreleased song by Kanye West that was created during the Thank God For Drugs sessions. It was produced by Travis Scott.

Production[]

The drums are sampled from Erasmo Carlos' song, "É preciso dar um jeito meu amigo".

Background[]

The song is said to have been created in late 2012. It was worked on again in the spring of 2013, with Ye finishing his vocals on the hook. At one point, a version of the song with sample clearance tags was created, but the song was later scrapped from the album regardless.

The song was later brought back again in the fall of 2013, serving as an interlude song for some performances in the Yeezus Tour.[1] It is unknown if Ye ever considered to release the song on Yeezus II, as it had not been seen on any known Yeezus II tracklists.

This information was not known until at least 2021, when a higher quality snippet of the song surfaced online. Full versions of the song would finally leak in 2022 and 2023, the latter of which would be when an early version of Yeezus was leaked with the song on the tracklist.[2]

Lyrics[]

I am not here right now, I am not home
Leave a message after the life, flat line tone

Leave a message after the life, after I'm gone
