KANYE’S BEAT SEPT. 97' is Kanye West’s first ever known project, released on cassette in September of 1997. The second beat on the tape was given to GRAV for his song "City to City" before its placement on the project and the sixth beat was later given to Infamous Syndicate and West for their song ‘'What You Do to Me’'. The tape has eight instrumental tracks and a runtime of fourteen minutes.
Background[]
During the mid 1990s West was producing beats mainly for local artists in the Chicago area, in hopes of taking off.[1] The beats on the project mainly consist of samples with additional drums and effects over them. It's unknown how big of a release the cassette got as some fans seemingly purchased it.[2] Generally, the project is considered unreleased.
