KIDS SEE GHOSTS (stylized in all caps) was an hip hop group composed of Kanye West and Kid Cudi. Founded in 2018 during the Wyoming sessions, the duo released their eponymous debut album in June of that year, through their respective label imprints, GOOD Music and Wicked Awesome Records. The duo disbanded in 2022 amongst a feud between the two, although they have since reconciled.[1]

Following Ye and Cudi's beef and reconciliation during the Saint Pablo Tour, followed by Ye's infamous 20-minute rant, rumors of a collaborative album between Kanye and Cudi began spreading in December 2016 following a leak.[2] In August 2017, Kanye, Cudi, and painter Takashi Murakami took a picture together. Takashi thanked Ye and Cudi for visiting his studio. An insider later confirmed that Ye and Cudi were working on a collaborative album in Japan.[3] On April 19, 2018, along with the announcement of ye, Kanye announced on Twitter that he and Cudi formed a group titled KIDS SEE GHOSTS, and their debut album was set to release on June 8.[4] Ye revealed that an accompanying short film (directed by Dexter Navy) was also set to release, although this didn't happen.[5]

Following the release of KIDS SEE GHOSTS, Cudi revealed in July 2018 that he and Kanye would be releasing new music as KIDS SEE GHOSTS.[6] On November 11, the duo performed together at Tyler, The Creator's Camp Flog Gnaw Carnival.[7] During Coachella in 2019, Kanye made a guest appearance at Cudi's set, along with 070 Shake and Ty Dolla $ign.[8] In September 2019, Cudi assured fans that he and Kanye were working a sequel to KIDS SEE GHOSTS.[9] On June 10, 2020, a video was posted of Kanye playing Sonic the Hedgehog 2 in Cudi's house, in which Ye revealed that a video game for KIDS SEE GHOSTS was in the works.[10] On June 26, a trailer for an animated TV show was posted to social media as part of Kanye's #WESTDAYEVER campaign.[11]

Ending and reconciliation[]

On February 12, 2022, Kanye revealed on Instagram that Cudi would not be featured on Donda 2 because he was friends with Pete Davidson, whom Kanye was feuding with at the time. In response, Cudi called Kanye a "dinosaur" and stated that "I've been the best thing about ur albums since I met u."[12] He also said that his and Kanye's collaboration with Pusha T on his song, "Rock N Roll", would be the last time that he and Kanye would collaborate on a song.[13] On December 15, 2023, Ye and Cudi finally squashed their beef as they were seen hugging in the afterparty for the Vultures rave in Las Vegas. Cudi was also featured on the upcoming Vultures song, "Gun To My Head", which was previewed earlier that night.[14]
