"KING" is a song by ¥$ (Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign) that was released as the sixteenth and final track from their debut studio album, VULTURES 1 (2024).[1]

In the song, Ye addresses the media portraying him as "crazy, bipolar, anti-Semite". However, he dismisses the media and his detractors and declares that through it all, he is "still the king".[2]

Production[]

The song samples audio from Ozzy Osbourne's 1980 song, "Crazy Train" and Run-DMC's 1986 song, "Hit It Run". The instrumental heavily samples S.Maharba's 2008 song, "Stems".[3]

Background[]

The song was initially created in the Italy sessions, likely when the album was still titled Bad Bitch Play Book. An early version of the song features a sample of a scene from the movie, Minions, in which Bob says "King Bob!".[4] On February 2, HipHopDX posted a track list for VULTURES 1, revealing that "The King" would be the thirteenth and final track.[5] The song was first previewed at the Chicago listening party on February 8, although the live stream noticeably cut off after the infamous "crazy, bipolar, anti-Semite" line. While many people believed that this was done because of the line, it happened because of the stadium's curfew.[6]

On August 4, reference writer Fat Money officially released one of the references he had done for the track titled "King Freestyle" onto his SoundCloud in response to not being allowed to help fix Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign's sequel album, VULTURES 2.[7]

Lyrics[]

[Intro]
After everything said, huh
Wait, wait
After everything said, huh
Wait, wait

[Chorus]
"Crazy, bipolar, antisemite"
And I'm still the king
Still the king
Still
They thought headlines was my kryptonite
Still the king
Still the king

[Verse 1]
This what y'all all been waitin' for, huh?
Guess a real n***a couldn't take no more, huh
N***as mad 'cause they can't talk to Ye no more, huh
It was fucks given, now it ain't no more, huh
If you ain't mean it, what you say it for, huh?
She just wanna fuck at the Bottega store, huh
Way she suck me off, I should be payin' more, huh
Addicted to my bitch 'cause she actin' like a slut
Bring four sluts right now
Shut the hell up 'fore you get exiled
And I'm still

[Chorus]
"Crazy, bipolar, antisemite"
And I'm still the king
They thought headlines was my kryptonite, bitch
I'm still the king
I'm still the king

[Verse 2]
Paparazzi love me, they show up to everything
I can pay you double, let me put you on the team
White Castle to Italian castles, we did everything
Sold out every stadium, bitch, we got every wing
I don't give a— uh-uh, ooh
Why— mmm, the king
All that word of mouth couldn't take me out, huh-huh
After all of that, your kids in the house goin' crazy

[Outro]
'Cause I'm still the king
Still the king
Still the king
Deadlines, I gave a shit, like
Still the king
Still the king

Trivia[]

  • The line, "Shut the Hell up 'fore you get exiled", refers to an incident that occurred on December 15, 2023. After previewing several songs in the Las Vegas rave afterparty, Ye went on a 15-minute rant about several topics, including Hitler, Jay-Z, Drake, and Balenciaga, among other topics. During the rant, a woman in the crowd told Ye that he "ain't God, n***a", and in response, Ye told her to shut up "'fore you get exiled".[8]
