"LET GO" (also known as "On His Head" and "I Let Go") is an unreleased song by ¥$ (Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign) that dates back to the Pio Pico sessions for West's tenth studio album Donda (2021).

Background[]

The song dates back to as early as May 26, 2021 where the song was originally one of the many Digital Nas mumble freestyles from this era that went by the name of "On His Head" featuring Cailin Russo.[1] This song would go on to be worked on further, with several reference tracks being recorded for it by different artists, including Ty Dolla $ign who is said to have recorded two different references for the song.[2] A scrapped Vory feature for this song is also proven to exist through a list of tracks shown on a livestream by BEAM, who had also recorded a reference for the song.

Past the Pio Pico sessions, it's unclear if the song had continued to be worked on into the Mercedes-Benz sessions, although the song was confirmed by Ye himself to have been in consideration for the deluxe edition to Donda alongside "LA Monster" through his Drink Champs interview.[3] It did not make the final cut, however, as songs like "Never Abandon Your Family" and "Up From The Ashes" were added instead.[4] The song was scrapped from this point onward and had not been worked on again until 2024.

The song has been said to have been picked up by Kanye and Ty Dolla $ign for the album VULTURES 2 post-rework by trusted leaker Luit. Producers Digital Nas and Ojivolta updated the song's production and Young Moose recorded feature vocals for the song on or around May 18.[5] It was reportedly seen on a VULTURES 2 tracklist from around May or June, but it was presumably scrapped afterward.

On April 21, 2025. Digital Nas would play LET GO in his car using the Ye Tracker website, while stating it could be on Donda 3.[6]

Lyrics[]

[Intro: Ty Dolla $ign & Kanye West]
Can I let go?
When you're holding onto me
Am I strong enough to lead?
When I know deep down that I'm not
Okay, let's go
I trust you to lead
I know you'd never put more on me than
Put more on than even I can take
I let go
Still holdin' onto, I'm holdin' on to
Somebody taught you, somebody wronged you
Somebody warned me, somebody saw me
Still had it on me, and who was phony?
And left me lonely? And left me lonely?
Like you don't know me
My one and only, somebody hold me
I let go, I let go (Woooooo)
Don't you lose it

[Chorus: Kanye West]
If I let go
Let God and let go
I gotta let it go
I got it, let's go
I got it, let's go

[Verse 1: Kanye West & Ty Dolla $ign]
Light a fire by the water
High tides, can't fade my life

[Chorus: Kanye West & Ty Dolla $ign]
If I let go
I let go
Let God and let go
I gotta let it go
I got it, let's go
I got it, let's go (Woooooo)
I gotta let it go
Let God and let go
He has so much more

[Verse 2: Ty Dolla $ign & Kanye West']
Flying to the clouds to touch the sun
We can see the Mon-drian-drian
I know they was hoping I'd be wrong
I know you was hoping I'd be gone
Okay, let's go
I trust you to lead
Am I strong enough to mean it?
I know you never lead me wrong

[Chorus: Kanye West]
I got it, let's go
I gotta let it go
Let God and let go
He has so much more

[Outro: Kanye West & Ty Dolla $ign]
Don't you lose it
Don't you lose it
Don't you lose it
