"Life's A Gamble" serves as Georgia rapper Rich The Kid's senior studio album, released independently through his own label RTK as well as through gamma.[1] The album features executive production from both members of ¥$, Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign and features them alongside other artists Chief Keef, Quavo, BIA, Young Adz, Offset and French Montana.[2] The album also features production from Ojivolta, TheLabCook, Digital Nas, The Legendary Traxster, SkipOnDaBeat, Murda Beats and several others.[3]
The album follows Rich The Kid's previous collab album with Lil Wayne, Trust Fund Babies (2021) as well as his last previous solo album, Boss Man (2020).[4]
Background[]
Production for the album dates back to as early as 2022. Very little is known about these sessions other than the creation of Plain Jane which likely taken place around the same time as the studio sessions between Kanye, Rich and Offset.[5]
Production would continue into 2023 where Rich created the song "Honor Roll".[6] When Rich The Kid met up with Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign during the Saudi sessions for their album VULTURES 1, he played the song for the two who recorded verses for the song and decided to take it for their own. The song was first played a the Vultures Las Vegas rave on December 15.[7] Two days after the event, Playboi Carti would record a verse for the song.[8]
The song would continue production into the next year until being previewed on February 8, 2024 with the bridge sampling "Iron Man" by the Black Sabbath.[9] That same day lead singer Ozzy Osbourne confirmed he would not be clearing the sample and the following day a new version sampling "Hell Of A Life" was played. The song would be met with an official release date on February 10, and just a few days after Rich The Kid would announce Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign are now both executive producers for his upcoming album.
The song "CARNIVAL" would be met with a rerelease on February 15.[10] Rich The Kid and Kanye West would also begin trying to engineer a song for the album that would replicate CARNIVAL's success titled "BLEED IT", though the song was taken by Kanye for his own and completely reworked into "FRIED" and Rich was cut from it.[11]
The lead single to the album "Gimme A Second" featuring Peso Pluma would be met with a release on May 23rd.[12] The following day, a B-side to the song "Band Man would release.[13]
On June 20, a remix to the song "Gimme A Second" titled "Gimme A Second 2" would briefly release featuring a verse from Kanye West instead of Peso Pluma.[14] However, the song was taken down as the song was not meant to release until the following day and the version released was supposed to have Ty on it as well. The following day, the song would release again with Ty punch-ins filling in for part of Kanye's initial verse.[15] Again, the song was intended to have Peso Pluma on it and would be updated for a third time on June 24th.[16]
As July 10th, as roll-out for Rich The Kid's new album, he shared DMs between him and Kanye where Kanye stated he was planning on retiring.[17] It was later confirmed by Milo that this was not true. Just days later, Rich The Kid would share the track list to the album and reveal a release date with the song "Plain Jane" being featured on it.[18]
The album was met with a release date on July 17th, although the initial track list had been tweaked. Instead of the song "Warren Buffett" with the late Migos rapper Takeoff appearing, the song "Tell Me" with Young Adz had been added to replace it. The song "CARNIVAL" had also been removed from the album shortly after it went up.

Trivia[]
- Given the lack of clearance of CARNIVAL as well as Ye's spoken disliking of his Gimme A Second 2 verse, it's unclear if he actually had anything to do with executive production of the album.
