Symere Bysil Woods (born July 31, 1994), known professionally as Lil Uzi Vert, is an American rapper, singer, and songwriter. Born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, they gained initial recognition following the release of the commercial mixtape Luv Is Rage (2015), which led to a recording contract with Atlantic Records, to whom they signed under DJ Drama's Generation Now imprint.[1]

Lil Uzi Vert attracted mainstream attention following the release of their 2016 debut single "Money Longer". The song served as lead single for their third mixtape Lil Uzi Vert vs. the World (2016), which spawned the rapper's first Billboard Hot 100-top 40 single, "You Was Right". After releasing an additional mixtape and EP, Lil Uzi Vert guest appeared on Migos 2016 single "Bad and Boujee", which peaked atop the chart. They later secured their first top ten single as a lead artist with their 2017 single "XO Tour Llif3", which won the MTV Video Music Award for Song of Summer.

"XO Tour Llif3" also served as lead single for Lil Uzi Vert's debut studio album Luv Is Rage 2 (2017), which debuted atop the Billboard 200 and received double platinum certification by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).[2] At the 2018 Grammy Awards, they were nominated for Best New Artist. Following several delays, their second studio album, Eternal Atake (2020), became their second project to debut atop the Billboard 200. After releasing Pluto × Baby Pluto (2020), a collaborative album with Future, Lil Uzi Vert spent the next three years teasing their third solo album, Pink Tape (2023). Upon release, it became their third consecutive solo project to debut atop the Billboard 200, and included the Billboard Hot 100 top-ten single "Just Wanna Rock".

History (w/ Kanye West)[]

Kanye and Uzi's history goes way back to early in Uzi's career. Uzi would begin working with Kanye as early as 2015 and recorded several songs with Kanye for his album at the time SWISH and later The Life Of Pablo.[3] They recorded for the songs "Fade" and "No More Parties In LA", though neither of his features made the final album.[4]

Despite his features not making the final cut to the album, Uzi and West would continue working into late-2016 on West's then-album TurboGrafx 16. Uzi is speculated to have recorded for a version of "Come and Go" and another song with The Weeknd, though both songs were scrapped with the album.[5]

In 2018, both West and Uzi would feature on Travis Scott's single "Watch". Later that same month on May 18th an updated version of the song "That's On You" by Rambo Savage featuring Uzi would release.[6]

Past this point and up until 2022 Uzi and Kanye were seemingly no longer on good terms, with Uzi speaking about him in a negative light on Twitter on multiple occasions.[7] They seemingly made up in 2022 and gotten a matching tattoo with both Ye and Steve Lacy.[8] In his DrinkChamps interview, Kanye would also go on to state that both Lil Uzi and Playboi Carti are the future of music.[9]

It has also been said Kanye had recorded for two songs off of Uzi's album Pink Tape and even executively produced a copy, though the legitimacy of this is questionable as leaker waterfalls has said otherwise.[10] Despite this, a remix of the song "All Of The Lights" by Kanye West was also created for Pink Tape.[11] Despite not dropping on the album, the song was also intended to drop the following year as a standalone single after the release of Eternal Atake 2 under Uzi's deal with Kai Cenat, though never did.

In 2024, Uzi was stated to have been seen in the studio with Kanye and Carti.[12]
