Nitrous oxide, commonly known as laughing gas or nitrous, is a chemical compound. At room temperature, it is a colorless non-flammable gas, and has a slightly sweet scent and taste. It is frequently used in surgery and dentistry for its anesthetic and pain-reducing effects.[1]
Besides its medical applications, it is also known for inducing a "high", which has led the drug to have a notable recreational use. Since August 2024, Ye's dentist Thomas P. Connelly has been accused of getting Ye addicted to this drug.[2] Excessive misuse may result in nerve damage.[3]
