Jordan Terrell Carter (born September 14, 1996), known professionally as Playboi Carti, is an American rapper. Carti was initially signed to local underground label Awful Records prior to signing with A$AP Mob's AWGE Label under Interscope Records. After gaining a cult following early in his career, Carter garnered mainstream attention in 2017.[1]

History with Ye[]

Carti's work with Kanye West kicked off in the Donda era, in which their first official collaboration was on Carti's own "Go2DaMoon" on Whole Lotta Red (2020); the album was executive produced by Ye. The following year, he appeared on the songs "Off The Grid" and "Junya" from Donda. He was also featured on the track "Mr. Miyagi" from Donda 2 (2022).

Carti's style would change by 2023, shifting to a more mysterious personality and using a new, deeper voice on his songs, starting with an appearance on Travis Scott's song "FEIN", on UTOPIA. Carti would later release a single, "2024", on December 14, 2023, produced by Ye, Ojivolta, and Earl on the Beat.

Listening parties[]

Carti was one of the guest performers for the Donda 2 listening party in February 2022. In September, Kanye joined Carti on stage during the latter's concert at Rolling Loud NY to perform "Off The Grid."[2]

Carti was supposed to appear at the initial Vultures Miami Rave, however, he did not make it on time to the event before curfew forced the event.[3] He would later be at the Vultures New York listening party on February 9, 2024.
