"SUZY" (formerly known as "THINGS CHANGE") is a song by Kanye West made under the name "DONDA" that was released as a part of his eleventh solo studio album, DONDA 2 (2025).[1] The song features vocals from Fat Money and production from Digital Nas, Ojivolta, and AllDay.[2]
Production[]
The song is produced by collaborators Digital Nas, AllDay and the duo Ojivolta. The song initially sampled the 2010 song "Suzy Sudenkita" by Islaja, though the new beat only interpolates the song.[3] The song runs at a tempo of 108 BPM in the G key with a minor mode and runs in 4/4 time.
Background[]
The song initially began as an idea for a song for Donda 2 in a freestyle for a completely different beat by AllDay on January 27, 2022.[4] Six days later, reference writer Fat Money would take Ye's mumble and record an elaborate idea for the song that would be used in final versions.[5]
The song was intended to be the closing track to multiple copies of Donda 2.[6] Seven days later, a completely different beat would be produced by Ojivolta, removing the sample and reworking the beat to interpolate it instead.[7] This idea wasn't used for long as four days later when the song had been tweaked again it reverted to the sample. The song seemingly wasn't worked on again past 2.22.22 for the album.
The song was brought back over three years later by Digital Nas for the newly updated copy of DONDA 2 that would be coming to streaming, revealed in a Tweet where he would ask who made the beat likely in order to get into contact with them to clear the song.[8] The song would appear in multiple copies of DONDA 2 put together by Nas, though when the final release came around the song was nowhere to be seen, likely as the song was still not finished.[9] The following day, Nas would play a new version of the song with AI over the Fat Money vocals, though the vocals were so pitched up that they had been completely off-key.[10] A different version was played later with the beat pitched up to match. The song was released on an updated copy the next day as the thirteenth track.
