"Take Me To The Light", "You Still Take Me To The Light" and "METTA WORLD PEACE" are all singles released by Francis and the Lights featuring a variety of artists, but most prominently the artists Kanye West and Justin Vernon of Bon Iver. Throughout the three released versions, features from Chance The Rapper, Caroline Shaw, Ant Clemons and Lil Dicky are present. The songs feature production from Francis and Kanye as well as additional production from Cashmere Cat, Benny Blanco and Noah Goldstein.

Background

Fine Line

The song initially started out as a Bon Iver song in 2017. The song would later be given to Kanye West in 2018 for his now scrapped LOVE EVERYONE under the name "Fine Line" with production from Justin Vernon, Jeff Bhasker and Andrew Dawson.

At this point, the song had sampled "Waves" by Velvet Negroni. The song consisted of primarily mumble Kanye as well as Bon Iver on the hook.

Take Me To The Light

The song was taken into the ​ye sessions in 2018 with completely reworked production from Benny Blanco and Kanye West himself and had been retitled "Take Me To The Light". The earliest known version of the song dates back to May 28, 2018.

During the ye sessions, Fya Man had recorded a reference for the song and Francis and the Lights, Chance The Rapper, Tony Williams and Ant Clemons had recorded feature vocals for the song.

The song was carried into the Yandhi sessions in late-2018, although not for long, as by October 21st the song had been given to Francis Starlite and the rapper Lil Dicky had recorded an outro for the song. The song would officially release via Francis' YouTube on August 30, 2019. A remix with Caroline Shaw would release onto streaming on September 18th of the following year.

METTA WORLD PEACE

Another remix to the song "METTA WORLD PEACE" began development late into the Yandhi sessions, featuring vocals from Ant Clemons. This version of the song would officially release the next year as a single on streaming on the date July 16, 2021.

Take Me To The Light 2030

The final known version of the song is titled "Take Me To The Light 2030" and was created by Francis during the God's Country sessions in 2019. This is likely the version of the song that had been planned for Francis' album, having much more dynamic and upbeat version of the instrumental compared to other versions.

This version was initially teased by Teddy Walton alongside an accompanied snippet of a music video for the song, although it had never released.
