"Ur2yung" is a song by electronic producer Machinedrum that released as the second out of four lead singles to his eighth studio album album A View of U (2020) in a pack alongside the track "Kain Train" featuring Freddie Gibbs.[1] The song was released on August 5th, 2020 and serves as the closing track to the full record.

Production[]

The song solely features the beat which was entirely created by Machinedrum. The song features a prominent sample chop of Jazzie Cazzie And The Eight Sounds' 1970 song "Young Girl".[2] The song runs at a tempo of 101 BPM in the B♭ key with a major mode and an alt-key of 6B,[3]

Background[]

The beat was initially made some time during the very late Thank God For Drugs sessions in early-2013 and had been intended for Kanye West to record over for the album according to Machinedrum himself, though instead of clarifying it was Thank God For Drugs he simply had just stated Yeezus though it is very unlikely it had been made during the Yeezus sessions as Rick Rubin had been the album's last producer.[4] The beat had been slightly different back then and Kanye had recorded for it, though like the majority of the other tracks it was left unused after Rick Rubin had began work on the album.

Seven years later in 2020, the song was reworked again by Machinedrum with added production and released as an additional single alongside the release of "Kain Train" featuring Freddie Gibbs on August 5th, 2020.[5] The song would later rerelease alongside the actual record on October 9th of that year as the closing track to the album.

Lyrics[]

[Refrain: Rodney Stepp]

You're too young
You're too young
You're too young
You're too young
