Since 2024, Ye (formerly known as Kanye West) has been using artificial intelligence (AI) in his artwork, which has become very disliked amongst his fans. The following is a list of times he has used AI.

Stance[]

During Ye's interview on The Download with Justin Laboy, he compared AI to autotune, and BULLY to 808s & Heartbreak. He explained that he wants AI to become more accepted in the music industry for several reasons, including that it makes it much easier to get stems from songs.[1] He further showed how he uses AI by putting a vocal filter of himself over Lil RT's song, "60 MILES".[2]

Songs[]

On April 22, 2024, a new song by Childish Gambino and Ye, nicknamed "Say Less", was previewed on Gilga Radio.[3] It is heavily debated whether Ye's verses are AI, though they likely are. However, Ye likely had nothing to do with the song.

Ye and Ty Dolla $ign's album, VULTURES 2 (released on August 3, 2024), was heavily criticized for its usage of AI on several songs, including:

  • "FIELD TRIP": All of Ye's lines in this song, excluding the intro and "Always hollerin' 'bout you rich, we riche", are confirmed to be AI.
  • "SKY CITY": Ye's entire first verse, excluding the line "Real fast, my wife wanna know", is confirmed to be AI. The vocals were taken from CyHi's version of "SKY CITY" back when he took the song in 2021.
  • "CAN U BE": The line, "Met two girls at Uniqlo / Who go both ways like unisex", is confirmed to be AI. When the song was updated, new AI vocals from Ye were added in, which were taken from Ty Dolla $ign's vocals.
  • "FOREVER": On August 15, 2024, the song was updated to replace Ye's mumble vocals with an entire verse which is confirmed to be AI. It is speculated that Ye's verse was taken from a reference track by infamous ghostwriter Quentin Miller.
  • "530": On November 10, 2024, the song was updated to feature one AI punchline by Ty Dolla $ign ("Nights been gettin' long" line) and an entire AI verse by Ye during the beat-switch.

On August 13, a new song by Skepta and Ye, titled "Alpha Omega", was previewed at a party. It was unclear whether Ye's verse was AI until the song was previewed at a fashion show on September 14, when it became clear that Ye's verse was AI. The song was eventually released without Ye.

Almost all songs from BULLY are speculated to be AI, with speculations only ramping up after Ye's interview on The Download. According to Ye, these will be changed in the future without AI.[4]

A few songs from CUCK are speculated to be AI. However, the AI is likely temporary as Ye recently had distaste for AI.[4]

A few songs from DONDA 2 use AI. We do not know if this is temporary but many people have complained about this. We know Ye is aware of this.[5]
