The VULTURES Trilogy is a series of three albums (two released, one still planned) released by the hip-hop duo ¥$, consisting of Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign.

Initial Sessions[]

Main article: Bad Bitch Play Book

Sessions began for the trilogy some time in late-June of 2023 after Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign had met up in Japan to record music together and paused development on their own solo works at the time. At this point in time the album had been named "Bad Bitch Play Book" and had a much different sound from the other records.[1]

However, it is evident the "Bad Bitch Play Book" album was also meant to be split into three parts as evident by the multiple track lists seen that had been intended for the album; being split into three parts; "Commit", "Doubt" and "Realization".[2] Nothing from these sessions were to ever release.

VULTURES 1[]

By the time the Saudi sessions had started, the album had been completely turned around, being renamed "Vultures Vol. 1", "Vultures Vol. 2" and "Vultures Vol. 3".[3] The first official Vultures track listing was posted by Ty himself on December 8, 2023.[4] The album was loaded into Apple Music and was previewed several times at small listening parties throughout December; although when the album was slated for the release, it missed its initial date.

The album wasn't mentioned again but had been worked on into 2024. A shirt with an early track listing was seen being worn by North West in February of that year.[5] The album's track listing had since then been rearranged and previewed at several listening parties before its final release on February 9th of that year.[6] However, the song "EVERYBODY" which had been slated for release alongside the album had not released due to the team's inability to clear the sample for the song and "GOOD (DON'T DIE)" had been taken off of streaming shortly after release by Donna Summer's estate.[7]

VULTURES 2[]

Shortly after the release of VULTURES 1, Kanye and Ty moved quickly onto VULTURES 2. The album didn't begin to be previewed in private listening parties for another month, but the first listening party was held on March 9, previewing several new songs such as "MELROSE", "VAGABOND" and "BELIEVER".[8] The song "Fighting Fires" from the Donda sessions had also been brought back, now under the name "MY SOUL".

Due to not being able to meet the initial March 8th release date, the album had indefinitely been pushed back to May 3rd. By the time May 3rd had rolled around, the album had been stated to have been completely finished, a copy of the album even being sent to the Rolling Stones magazine. However, by the time the date had came, the album had not been released and the direction had instead been completely shifted.[9]

The album was released on August 3rd, hours after the release of its lead single "SLIDE".[10] The album at this point had still been in an unfinished state however and has since been changed slightly, with an additional 5 digital deluxe editions releasing with the songs "BELIEVER", "DRUNK", "TAKE OFF YOUR DRESS", "GUN TO MY HEAD" and "CAN U BE".

VULTURES 3[]

Very little is currently known about VULTURES 3. The song "DRUNK" was supposedly intended for the album for a short period of time, but had instead been released as a bonus track as a part of a Digital Deluxe copy of VULTURES 2.

Trivia[]
