Virgil Abloh (September 30, 1980 - November 28, 2021) was an American fashion designer and entrepreneur. He was the artistic director of Louis Vuitton's menswear collection beginning in 2018, and was given increased creative responsibilities across the LVMH brand in early 2021. Abloh was also the chief executive officer of the Milan-based label Off-White, a fashion house he founded in 2013.[1]
He became colleagues with Kanye West by the late 2000s.[2] Abloh went on to help design the album cover for Ye and JAY-Z's 2011 collab album Watch The Throne.[3] After his passing, Kanye appeared at both his posthumous Louis Vuitton show "Virgil was here" and his private funeral.[4][5]
In the Donda 2 track "Louie Bags," Kanye sings, "I stopped buying Louis bags after Virgil passed."[6]
In February 2025, during a Twitter rant, Ye randomly dissed Virgil, simply tweeting "FUCK VIRGIL".[7] He later explained that he believes Virgil used their friendship to beat him and go against him.[8]
