"Worship" is an unreleased song by ¥$ (Kanye West & Ty Dolla $ign) and is track 15 from the original Vultures tracklist.[1] The track features guest vocals from singer Chlöe and a choir. It has since then not been worked on and presumably scrapped.

Background[]

According to Rodri, the song originated as a solo Chlöe song, which she created in a 10-song recording session. Two of the 10 songs were given to Ye, one of which being "Worship". During the YEBU sessions in Italy where the beat was produced by 88-Keys and Leon Thomas and Kanye had recorded his initial freestyle for the song.[2] It was later confirmed by Kanye insider Saint Leon (a.k.a. JoyBoy) that this is the only time he recorded for the song and all later versions were absent of Kanye vocals.[3]

The song was initially worked on during the Bad Bitch Play Book sessions in Italy. It was carried into the earliest VULTURES 1 sessions and had made an appearance on the first officially shared track listing for the album as the 15th track, following "DRUNK" and preceding "RIVER".[1] The song at this point had featured vocals from Chlöe as well and backing vocals from a choir. A version of the song without the effects on Chlöe's verse is said to exist.

The song was originally produced by TRYBISHOP with additional work added by SHDØW some time during the Saudi sessions.[4] The song, despite being on the track list to this album at this time, had never been played during any of the listening parties, leading to people mistaking the song "MATTHEW" with it. It's unknown if Ye had ever actually recorded for the song.

Past the Saudi sessions, the song was not worked on again, meaning it is presumably scrapped. The song was previewed by producer SHDØW on May 30th, 2024.[5] This led many to believe that the song had been brought back into consideration for VULTURES 2, but had later been confirmed in an infodump by Luit that the song was most likely just an alt prod and had nothing to do with the album.[6]

The partial version of the song that was uploaded to iTunes surfaced on July 31st, 2024.

Lyrics[]

[Chorus: Ty Dolla $ign & Choir]
We are worshipped forever (Come to me)
On and on and on and on
We are worshipped forever
Forever and ever and ever and ever, I swear

[Refrain: Chloe Bailey]
Oh, I was up in the cold
Had no one left to hold
Feeling so damn alone
I thought I'd die, but I made it another night (Made it another night, oh-oh)
'Cause I have you to hold (Oh, you love me)
[?] I had to [adore?] for you
I know they'll laugh and turn their back until you grab my hand
Believe in me more than myself, I feel like I'm the man
I will give you everything
'Cause you gave me everything
I gave you the place
I will give you everything, mm

[Chorus: Ty Dolla $ign & Choir]
We are worshipped forever (Forever)
On and on and on and on (On and on)
We are worshipped (We are) forever (Worshipped forever)
Forever and ever and ever and ever, I swear
We are worshipped forever

[Refrain: Ty Dolla $ign]
Oh, I was up in the cold
Had no one left to hold
Feeling so damn alone
I thought I'd die, but I made it another night (Made it another night, oh-oh)
'Cause I have you to hold (Oh, you love me)
[?] I had to [adore?] for you
I know they'll laugh and turn their back until you grab my hand
Believe in me more than myself, I feel like I'm the man
I will give you everything
'Cause you gave me everything
I gave you the place
I will give you everything, mm

Trivia[]

  • Vocals very similar to that of Charlie Wilson's are present in the choir. Many have speculated that is him, although it's unclear if it is.
    • Charlie Wilson was also present around the time Ty and Chlöe recorded their vocals for the song to record his backing vocals for "RIVER".
