"Waves" is an unreleased album by Kanye West that dates back to early-2016. These are the last sessions spanning from Yeezus II in 2014 to Waves before the album had shifted directions and been turned into The Life Of Pablo.

Background[]

Sessions for the album began the same day the last SWISH cover had been created.[1] On the 27th of January 2016, Kanye himself had announced the album had been renamed to Waves with a new track list posted onto Twitter, the album having been split into three acts.[2]

The album was worked on since then until February 11th, 2016, just three days before the official release of The Life Of Pablo. These are the of the shortest known sessions for an album by Kanye to exist.

Songs[]

Very little newly created songs from this session exist, given most of them derive from Yeezus II, So Help Me God and SwISH. It is possible the song "I Love Kanye" derived from these sessions. Multiple freestyles with Kendrick Lamar may have also been recorded during this time period.[3]
