"Woke Up" is an unreleased song by Ty Dolla $ign that was created in 2015 intended for his now-scrapped album Campaign. The song features additional vocals from Kanye West as well as production from Charlie Heat.[1]
Production[]
The beat produced by Charlie Heat features a prominent vocal sample of Jeremih's 2015 song "Paradise" on the chorus.[2] The song runs at a tempo of 107 BPM in the B♭ key with a major mode.[3]
Background[]
On December 4, 2015, Jeremih would release his third studio album Late Nights: The Album with the track "Paradise" releasing as the closer.[4] Very shortly after the release of the album, Kanye would reach out to the song's producer Mick Schultz about potentially sampling the song Paradise on one of his own songs.[5]
Ty would record his reference lines for the song some time around the same time he had recorded for Real Friends which he had recorded for on the last day of November.[6] A further along version with a beat switch is said to exist. It's unclear if a more finalized version of the song with more finished Kanye vocals exists.
