Wolves (also known as Calabasas Is The New Abu Dhabi) is an unreleased collaborative project by Kanye West and Drake that was recorded as early as 2016.
Background[]
Very little is known about the album. Wolves most likely started some time in February of 2016 given that's prior to when Kanye had initially said he and Drake had been working together during the TurboGrafx 16 sessions.[1] Both Future and Young Thug were present during these sessions as well and Kanye himself stated on February 18 that he, Drake and Future had recorded a song together.[2]
It's unclear what more came from these sessions. The song Glow had been created during these sessions and three versions of it exist, one from when it was still PARTYNEXTDOOR's song "I Hope" and another being a King Louie reference.[3]
In January 2023, Consequence stated he had recorded during a session at Drake's house for Wolves. It's highly likely these were just reference tracks.
By 2017, the album had been indefinitely scrapped after Drake began beef with several members of GOOD Music after being dissed on Pusha T's song "What Would Meek Do?".[4]
Songs[]
Very little songs are confirmed to be from these sessions, the only confirmed song being "Glow" and an untitled Future collaboration. Very little is truly known about the album, The song "Pop Style" with Jay-Z is speculated to have originated from the sessions for this album, though the song has been confirmed to date back to eras earlier making it impossible to tell given the album has no official start-stop date.
Lots of songs off of Drake's 2016 album Views feature production from Kanye West making it likely this album dates back earlier than its been confirmed to have.
