Yeezus II, or Yeezus 2, are all working titles for an unreleased album by Ye (Kanye West), intended to be a sequel to his 2013 solo studio album, Yeezus. Alternate names include Lost Yeezus, New Yeezus & Roses & Revolvers,

Background[]

Yeezus II was initially conceived as a way to release a significant portion of the material that was left out of the production of Yeezus, a process heavily influenced by producer Rick Rubin's streamlined approach. During the development period of Yeezus II, Ye began a significant collaboration with the legendary Paul McCartney, former Beatle. He would also conduct studio sessions in Mexico.

Lost Yeezus[]

An EP known as Lost Yeezus (dubbed the Lost Yeezus Tapes by some), was being developed, mainly containing aforementioned cut tracks from Yeezus. This was confirmed via concept art posted by designer Joe Perez (opt_archive).

CyHi playlist (ypm)[]

In 2017, a Spotify playlist titled "ypm" by frequent Ye collaborator CyHi was discovered. This playlist sparked speculation among fans, who believed it could potentially represent a tracklist for an album related to Yeezus II, since the abbreviated track names such as "W", "OO" and "AY" matched up with known unreleased songs from that era.[1]

The acronym "ypm" was subject to various interpretations within the fan community. One interpretation suggested that "ypm" stood for Your Prayers Mattered, or Your Prayer Matters.[2] Another theory surrounding the "ypm" name is that it references "Yeezus Paul McCartney".

On July 22, 2024, the full "ypm" album copy was leaked due to a groupbuy.[3]

Over time, Yeezus II underwent several transformations, at one point incorporating remixes of tracks originally featured on Yeezus. The project subsequently evolved into So Help Me God, another unreleased album in West's discography. Following this series of artistic modifications and conceptual revisions, Ye did not release another studio album until the release of The Life of Pablo in 2016. This particular album also had an earlier, unreleased iteration known as SWISH.

No songs from this project were officially released, but it was reported that Miley Cyrus skipped out on a 2013 VMAs afterparty to record with Ye.[4] Years later, it was revealed that she recorded for a remix to "Black Skinhead" which also featured Travis Scott.[5][6] Some other leaks such as "After You," which turned into Pusha T's "Coming Home," would later surface.[7] Additionally, a song by the name of "God Level" aired in an Adidas commercial in 2014.[8]

Though no official tracklist or teased songs were ever linked to Yeezus II, in 2013, Ye stated that his next album would be "eight songs long."[9]

In March 2023, a full studio session from the early stages of the Yeezus II era was leaked following a groupbuy. This leak caused a stir among fans, with some erroneously interpreting the recording session as an early version of the album. However, only two tracks from this leaked session would be further developed. One was a rudimentary version of "Father Stretch My Hands", which at that stage only comprised the recognizable sample and a minimal amount of mumble. The other track that persisted was "After You".
